ZAGREB, Mar 3 (Hina) - The Permanent Representative of the Republic
of Croatia to the UN, Ambassador Mario Nobilo forwarded a letter to
Chairman of the UN Security Council French Ambassador Jean-Bernard
Merimee, said the Croatian Foreign Ministry today.
Commenting on the recent NATO operation, performed in the air
space of Bosnia-Herzegovina, when four Serb warplanes were shot
down in pursuance of UN Security Council Resolution 816, Nobilo
warned that the above mentioned warplanes took off from the
military airport in Udbina, which is situated on the temporarily
occupied territory of the Republic of Croatia that is under the
protection of the United Nations (UNPAs). Two Serb warplanes
escaped and landed at the airport in Udbina.
The Croatian Government believes that it is an act of
jeopardizing of the Croatian sovereignty and territorial integrity,
said Nobilo and requested the UN Security Council to take effective
measures to protect inviolability of Croatia's air space, to deploy
military observers at the Udbina airport and to close the airport
to traffic until this area has been reintegrated into the
constitutional and legal system of the Republic of Croatia, in
conformity with all Security Council relevant resolutions.
