ZAGREB, Feb 3 (Hina) - The US State Department Report on the human
rights situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993 that we received
today from the US Embassy in Zagreb was addressed on 12 pages.
Following are some highlights among which is the statement
that "in 1993 (...) all national groups were victimized by the
conflict, and all sides violated the Geneva Conventions."
"Bosnian Serb armed forces, with Belgrade's complicity,
launched the Bosnian conflict through its aggressive 'ethnic
cleansing' campaign", continues the report. "Ethnic cleansing
campaigns in 1993, states the report, also took place in Banja Luka
and Bijeljina, and the BSA waged sporadic attacks on Tuzla, Doboj,
Brcko, Olovo, Teocak, and Maglaj (...)."
"Bosnian government forces perpetrated a number of abuses and
atrocities in 1993, for the most part against the Bosnian Croats,"
the report said.
The State Department also quotes reports on violations of
human rights and international military and humanitarian law
committed by HVO.
