REBEL SERB 'KRAINA' MIGHT BE CARVED UP IN TWO - MIKELIC

Autor: ;MM;
ZAGREB, May 30 (Hina) - The French news agency AFP Monday reported Croatian rebel Serbs' self-styled parliament in Knin to vote no confidence to their "prime minister" Borislav Mikelic. Mikelic himself did not attend the session, and a letter he had sent was not even opened. In a lengthy statement, quoted last night by Belgrade radio, Mikelic reiterated his view that the "parliament"'s decision to go for urgent unification with Serb entity in Bosnia, was a "mistake". "I was warning about it and I warn about it now," Mikelic said, explaining that the action would "certainly lead to carving- up of 'Kraina' in two." "At the same time the decision is a bare make-up for Kraina's president Milan Martic's numerous anti-constitutional, illegal actions, as well as for his catastrophic miscalculations," Mikelic said. The Mikelic's omen was backed recently by establishment of a "coordination committee for Slavonia, Baranya and west Sirmium," headed by local Milosevic's proxy Goran Hadzic. According to Belgrade-based news agency Beta, the Knin parliament yesterday blasted the "committee", and its "self- proclaimed, illegal and anti-constitutional activity." The "committee" was designed only to "undermine 'Republic Serb Kraina'," rebel Serb parliamentaries chorused. (Hina) mm bk 301222 MET may 95
