DUBROVNIK, May 25 (Hina) - The Dubrovnik police has brought charges
of disposing of stolen artefacts against four Croatians and an
Italian citizen.
The value of the artefacts thus placed on the black market has
been assessed to 370,000 kunas (about 100,000 DEM). Most of their
coups were carried out during the war.
The artefacts in question had been stolen from churches,
castles and private homes in the Dubrovnik area.
The stolen goods were first shipped to Rijeka and then to
Zagreb for assessment.
The assessment was often carried out abroad, namely in
Ljubljana, where it was also easy to obtain the necessary
certificates.
Most of the gang activities took place in rented rooms or
apartment owned by their foreign associates in Ljubljana, Maribor
and Portoroz (Slovenia).
