ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - The chief prosecutor of the International
War Crimes Tribunal for former Yugoslavia, Richard Goldstone
arrived in Zagreb this afternoon, and UN human rights special
rapporteur, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, was due to come here as well later
on, an UNCRO spokesman Christopher Gunnes said on Monday.
Goldstone, who is paying a one-day visit to Croatia, is
expected to meet Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and UN
Secretary-General's special envoy Yasushi Akashi, Gunnes added.
'A three-member team from Goldstone's office, who have been in
Croatia for two weeks, are tackling issues of the events in western
Slavonia and the bombardment of Zagreb', he said.
Goldstone will be informed of the work of his team who will
return to the Hague by the end of this week to make their reports,
according to Gunnes.
Mazowiecki is to meet officials of UNHCR, ICRC and EUMM
(European Union Monitoring Mission) on Tuesday.
Mazowiecki will travel to western Slavonia on Wednesday when
he will talk with Croatian Interior Minister Ivan Jarnjak before
departing to Bosnia for a five-day visit.
