ZAGREB, May 19 (Hina) - The Association of the Croats of
northwestern Bosnia today forwarded a leter to UN Special
Rapporteur on Human Rights, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, on account of
recent dramatic escalation of ethnic cleansing in Banja Luka area.
Following are some highlights of the letter.
"Your excellency! During last two years you have visited many
areas in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and filed a lot of reports
on violations of human rights. But you have never visited the Banja
Luka area to learn about the living conditions of Croats and
Bosniaks living there in a sort of concentration camp.
All the fundamental human rights, expressly ones describes in
paragraph 147 V. of the Geneva Convention on Human Rights, were
desecrated there long ago.
We would like to invite you to visit the area and assure
yourself on the situation of these completely deprived people, and
to prevent further crimes, before it is too late," the letter said.
