ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Armed Serbs yesterday physically assaulted
a parish priest and two nuns in a vicarage in the village of Trn
near Banja Luka. The assailants then made off with all the
valuables, while the battered victims left the vicarage in
considerable pain, a Zagreb-based representative of the Banja Luka
diocese said today.
The parish curch was blown up a little before 3 a.m. this
morning, and the vicarage was put on fire.
Many houses were damaged in the explosion, which razed the
church to the ground.
Many Catholic believers in this and other Banja Luka parishes
did not dare to sleep in their homes, fearing for their lieves, the
Diocese representative said.
He recalled the killing of a 65-year-old couple in the village
of Motike on Sunday night. The husband, Franjo Grgic, was
decapitated and many other civilians suffered severe physical abuse
that night.
Several Catholic homes in the village of Dragocaj were damaged
by bombs.
ALl these crimes against civilians, Catholics and other people
were instigated by the Serb authorities, the Diocese representative
said.
