SARAJEVO, May 17 (Hina) - Bosnian Army's 5th Corps advanced
considerably in clashes in western Bosnia on Wednesday.
Bosnian Army troops pushed back Serbs toward Bosanska Krupa
and southeast of Bihac, the UN headquarters in Sarajevo reported
today.
The Bosnian Army's 5th Corps liberated probably the town of
Ripac upon the Una River, some 10 kms. southeast of Bihac, UN
military observers reported this afternoon. The area in question
was under Serb control since the beginning of war.
Serbs fired cannon shells at the UN-designated safe area of
Bihac at about 14:30 hrs today because of their territorial losses.
At least four shells hit the Bihac downtown, wounding several
civilians, UN officials reported.
At least three civilians were killed in the artillery attacks
on Bihac, and huge material damage was caused, UN confirmed this
evening.
