ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK covers yesterday's
ceremonial parliamentary session commemorating the Bleiburg
victims.
"It is necessary to clear the Bleiburg reality of the clogs of
history which could seduce us into losing ourselves on emotional,
national-romantic trips and long-dead illusions," Croatian
Parliament Speaker Nedjeljko Mihanovic said in his speech, carried
by the paper.
A commentary by Mirko Galic, headlined "Neither Withdrawing
Nor Staying On Unconditionally," deals with the UN peace-keeping
mission in Bosnia.
Today's VECERNJI LIST discusses how the western Slavonia
action and the rocketing of Zagreb might affect the tourist season,
in an article headlined "Tourists Attracted by Peace."
The paper carries an interview with US congressman Ed Royce,
headlined "CIA Testifies on War Crimes."
"Everyone except western governments understood who was the
aggressor right at the beginning. Statements avoided the word
'genocide' and babbled about 'civil war.' As I said, the CIA report
puts an end to it. I fully support the War-Crimes Tribunal and I
oppose any offers of amnesty to the Serb regime leaders. The
perpetrators of war crimes cannot be turned into peace-makers by a
United Nations decree," Royce said.
