ZAGREB, May 13 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Nedjeljko
Mihanovic and Member of Parliament Vice Vukojevic talked to
reporters after a reception at the Presidential Palace, where a
group of participants in a scientific conference on the Bleiburg
massacre in 1945 met President Tudjman last night.
"Since the subject has long been shrouded in a veil of
secrecy, it is very important that the problem be addressed by a
scientific panel," said Mihanovic, who doubles as the chairman of
the parliamentary commitee on the marking of the 50th anniversary
of the Bleiburg victims.
"We do not want to repeat an absurdity like the exaggeration
of the number of the Jasenovac victims - we want to arrive at the
truth, through the cooperation of people who came from all over the
world and presented their essays from different angles," he said.
Committee member Vice Vukojevoc said President Tudjman had
supported the panel's work.
After the closing debate this afternoon, about three hundred
participants are to leave for Bleiburg and lay a wreath on a
monument to the victims tomorrow morning, Vukojevic said.
He announced a ceremonial session of the Croatian Parliament
for 11:00 Monday.
