SARAJEVO, May 9 (Hina) - The UN in Sarajevo today blamed the Serbs
for a string of artillery attacks in various parts of Bosnia-
Herzegovina yesterday, mostly directed at civilian targets.
The heaviest of these attacks was the one launched at Maglaj
in northern Bosnia. The downtown area was hit by 10 shells, one of
which landed on a primary school, wounding three children.
The Serb artillery fired two shells at a British UNPROFOR base
in Jelah (central Bosnia) about 18:00 hours yesterday. There were
no casualties among the peace-keepers but two civilians were
wounded.
Forty-six loud explosions were heard at the separation line
between the Bosnian army and the Serb forces in the Donji Vakuf
area (central Bosnia).
UN military observers found that 130-mm projectiles were used
in yesterday's Serb attack on Tuzla. While Bosnian media spoke of
13 casualties, UNPROFOR said nine people were wounded during the
attack, of whom five sustained serious injuries.
An UNPROFOR base in Coralici, western Bosnia, was again
attacked yesterday. It was established that two of the shells fired
at the area had come from Serb positions in the occupied part of
Croatia.
