MOSTAR, May 8 (Hina) - President of the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Kresimir Zubak, today sent a letter of protest to UN
Secretary-General's special envoy, Yasushi Akashi, because of the
UNPROFOR's passivity toward the pogrom of the Croatian population
in the Serb-held Banja Luka area, northwestern Bosnia.
"I am sending a strong protest because of the passivity and
inefficiency of your organization," Zubak wrote.
He asked Mr. Akashi to "take effective measures so that the
fascist terror over Croatian and other non-Serb nations in Banja
Luka be stopped, and perpetrators punished."
A deputy to the Bosnian Federation's Foreign Minister,
Vladislav Pogarcic, sent a letter to the chairman of the UN
Security Council, France's Ambassador Bernard Merimee, in which he
requested an urgent session of the UN SC because of the "dramatic
deterioration and terror over Croatian and non-Serb residents in
Banja Luka and a wider northwestern area of Bosnia-Herzegovina."
"During celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the victory
over Fascism, UN SC five permanent members in fact support the
flare-up of the fascist fire in the heart of Europe," Pogarcic
wrote.
We demanded that all necessary measures be taken in line with
UN Charter Chapter VII, as well as in line with all other relevant
UN SC and General Assembly resolutions, according to Pogarcic's
letter.
