ZAGREB, April 13 (Hina) - Croatian Finance Minister Bozo Prka said
at a Government session today that the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) had granted three loans to
Croatia so far.
At the beginning of May eight EBRD executive directors were
expected to arrive in Croatia to consider possibilities for
granting new credits to Croatia, Prka said.
He added that the ERBD showed willingness to set up funds
which will participate in the process of privatization, and the
Bank was also interested in the commercial investment into Croatia.
At the session the Government accepted conclusions about the
tender for construction of highways in Croatia. Development and
Reconstruction Minister Jure Radic explained the conclusions, and
said that bids offered for constructions could fulfill neither
political nor economic interest of Croatia. Bidders overrate the
costs of building some facilities, and demanded too big deposit
from Croatia, he added. And, the proposed duration of concession
for 40 years was not suitable for Croatia.
Prime Minister Nikica Valentic said the granting of
concessions for construction of highways in Croatia was included in
the government's economic programme, but not at any cost.
