HISTORY AND PRIVREDNA BANKA GENERAL MANAGER
ZAGREB, Apr 6 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman today
received a delegation from the Institute for Contemporary History,
comprising the Institute's director, Dr. Mirko Valentic, and the
general manager of Privredna Banka Zagreb (Commercial Bank), Marin
Katicic, the President's office said today in a statement.
Following is the full text of the statement:
"The delegation informed the President of the Institute's
situation and activities, new projects and plans for extending
research to the entire Croatian history. The President supported
the involvement of young researchers. He also urged the researchers
to appear in public, because their scientific interpretation of
historical facts would promote a better understanding of present-
day events.
Thanking the President for his support, Valentic announced
that several new publications would come out this summer and a big
scientific panel would be held in autumn under the working headline
'Croats in World War II'. Valentic also emphasised the sponsorship
of Privredna Banka.
Valentic presented to President Tudjman the first copy of a
reprint edition of "Historiarum Cathedralis Ecclesiae Zagrabiensis"
(History of the Zagreb Cathedral) by Baltazar Adam Krcelic
Krbavski, and its Croatian translation, as well as a reprint
edition of "Half a Century of Croatian Politics" by Jere Jareb.
