ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - Today's "Vjesnik" devotes its front page
to the second anniversary of Nikica Valentic's cabinet.
"A stand-by arrangement with the IMF, an agreement on debt
servicing with the Paris Club and a stable kuna are numbered
among the achievements of Valentic's government in the past two
years - and even more ambitious measures are in the offing," the
article says.
The paper polls political party leaders on the latest UN
resolution, under the headline: "Major Fault - No Deadlines".
A comment piece by Zeljko Matija deals with rebel Serbs'
views on resolution 981: "The resolution has drawn extremely
biased comments, and pagragraph 8 (which appeals to the warring
sides to restrain from hostilities), is being played on the TV
like a commercial."
"It's not an everyday event when the largest and strongest
bank in a country announces the sale of all its portfolio, as
Privredna banka Zagreb did last week", says a comment piece by
Vjesnik's economic analyst Ivo Jakovljevic.
"Apparently backed by the goverment, the Bank's managing
board decided to sell out all its assets, nominally totalling $
600 million. The bank is selling shares in 48 companies,
including the most profitable concerns in Croatia", says
Jakovljevic.
VECERNJI LIST announces the opening of railway lines through
the occupied areas for the next week.
"The new UN-mandate in Croatia didn't stall the
implementation the Dec 2 Economic Agreement", the article says.
