ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - Gale-strong winds were blowing all over
Croatia today and in the capital Zagreb the wind speed reached 24
metres per second.
The national weather agency said the wind was expected to
subside overnight in continental parts and tomorrow along the
Adriatic.
Economy Minister Nadan Vidosevic told a government session
today that strong winds caused power outages at the Krsko nuclear
power plant and thermal power plants in northwestern Croatia.
Repair crews were on the ground and power was gradually
restored in the Zagreb area and eastern Croatia.
The Krsko nuclear plant stopped automatically at 11.15 am
today because of the the collapse of the power network, Krsko
officials said in a statement. They said that the outage did not
have any effect on the environment and that the plant was to resume
work tomorrow.
