ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister, Mate Granic,
today in Zagreb received diplomatic representatives of the member
countries of the Contact Group as well as representatives of the UN
Security Council member countries China, Italy and the Czech
Republic, which is to preside over the Security Council from next
month.
Granic informed his guests of the contents of the letter he
sent today to the UN Secretary General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, in
which he expressed Croatia's discontent with Ghali's report to the
UN Security Council.
Granic reiterated Croatia's demands concerning the new UN
mandate for Croatia, stressing that Croatia was not demanding
anything beyond what had been agreed upon in the Copenhagen deal.
During the talks Granic, mentioned some recent proposals, and
said that Croatia would not accept the embargo being lifted off the
so-called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia only on the condition that
it recognise Bosnia-Herzegovina. The lifting of the embargo had to
be conditional on Yugoslavia recognising Croatia as well, said
Granic.
Granic added, that in that context, Croatia was ready to
accept a trilateral meeting between the Presidents of Croatia,
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia, but only on the basis of the already
known proposal of the European Union.
At the end of talks, Minister Granic, expressed Croatia's
willingness to continue negotiations with local Serbs.
