ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives is to resume its session on March 28.
First deputy speaker Goran Granic told deputies that the
chairmen of the clubs of deputies had agreed to delay the session
until next Tuesday to remove obstacles which had arisen from a
differing interpretation of the Book of Procedure.
Opinions vary as to whether the first deputy speaker should
replace the House speaker if he is absent and whether the outcome
of the election of the House first deputy speaker becomes
effective on the day it is passed or on the day it is published
in the official gazette.
The Opposition says that the decision on the election of
Social Liberal deputy Granic as the first deputy speaker should
take effect on the day it is passed, as it was said in the
written decision.
Invoking article 39 of the Book of Proecdure, Vladimir Seks
of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said that the
decision should be effective from the day it is published in the
official gazette.
