CROATIAN FOREIGN MINISTER ON HIS PHONE TALKS WITH KINKEL

ZAGREB, March 12 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mato Granic talked with his German counterpart Klaus Kinkel on the phone on Saturday. The phone talks concerned negotiations between Croatia and the international community on new models of the international community's presence in Croatia following the expiry of the current mandate of UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) in the country, Granic told the Croatian news agency Hina this morning. The new presence would consist of the control of the internationally recognized Croatian borders with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia and the supervision of the implementation of signed agreements between Croatia and Croatian Serbs, Granic said. The two ministers hoped that very soon a full agreement would be achieved between Croatia and the international community, which would enable the peaceful reintegration of the occupied Croatian areas into the Croatian legal and constitutional system to happen. Today's meeting between Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and US Vice President Al Gore in Copenhagen could contribute to such an agreement, Granic told Hina. Granic pointed out a significant and positive role of Germany in the implementation of the Washington Accords, especially in the organization of meetings between the Federation of Bosnia- Herzegovina leaders, President and Vice President Kresimir Zubak and Ejup Ganic.
