WASHINGTON, March 5 (Hina) - Representatives of the National
Federation of Croatian Americans (NFCA) met the US President's
national security advisor, Anthony Lake, and the advisor on
European isses, Alexander Vershbow, on Feb 27 at the White House,
the Federation said today in a statement.
The Croatian American delegation was led by the Federation's
President, Ed Damich, and the President of the Croatian Fraternal
Union, Bernard Luketich.
The delegation expressed dissatisfaction with the US policy
in former Yugoslavia.
They particularly criticised the insufficient pressure on
Serbia and the uncalled-for pressure on Croatia.
During the meeting, which took over an hour, the American
Croats argued in favour of Croatia's decision to end the UNPROFOR
mandate and called for the lifting of the arms embargo against
Croatia and Bosnia.
The Administration officials expressed understanding for the
Croatian point of view, but stressed their concern that the
ending of the UNPROFOR mandate might lead to a resurgence of war.
