ZAGREB, Feb 12 (Hina) - Families of Croatian killed, detained or
missing defenders and civilians from Osijek, Sisak, Cakovec and
Zagreb and members of the "Vukovar Mothers" association today
rallied in front of the UN Protection Force headquarters in the
Croatian capital.
In memory of the dead, detained and missing members of their
families the assembled people lit candles and laid wreaths on the
wall built by black bricks as a symbol for the killed people and
the red bricks as a symbol for the detained and missing persons.
The head of the Osijek-based association of the families whose
dearest are missing or detained Croat defenders, Mrs. Stefica
Krstic , said the rally did not have any political purpose, but
they had gathered ahead of Valentine's Day in memory of their
dearest who were killed and of those whose whereabouts are still
unknown.
The rally sent a letter to the UN special envoy, Yasushi
Akashi, which should remind Mr. Akashi of the fact that UNPROFOR
had done nothing to help seek truth about the missing people from
Croatian Homeland War.
