ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - The Croatian Government's fiscal policy was
a disincentive to tourism, according to the Council of the
Association of Hotel and Catering Service businessmen (UHU) at the
Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
The Council today discussed several Government bills
concerning the hotel and catering trade.
The Council sought to immediately hold talks with the
Government on the bill on the turnover tax on goods and services,
which provided for the payment of a 10 per cent tax on tourist
services.
The Council joined the Association of Tourist Agencies in the
call for tourism to regain the status of export activities so as to
be exempt from the turnover tax on goods and services.
The Council supported all three bills with some comments and
requests for changes.
One of the comments referred to the provision of the bill on
catering services concerning the ban for selling alcohol to persons
under age.
