SLOVENIAN PRIME MINISTER'S PRESS CONFERENCE

LJUBLJANA, Feb 3 (Hina) - Slovenian Prime Minister, Janez Drnovsek, said that the Government Coalition parties at a session today decided to merge positions on foreign issues, particularly relations with the EU and Croatia. Speaking at a press conference today, Drnovsek said that the Opposition parties had different views from the Government on these issues. Some were advocating a hard-line approach to the Croatian border issue and a law prohibiting foreigners from buying real estate was also a subject of controversy among the parties. Responding to journalists' questions, Drnovsek said that Slovenian and Croatian finance ministers should meet soon to resolve the question of the Ljubljana bank debt to Zagreb. Preparations were also being made for a trade ministers' meeting to discuss the ownership of the Krsko nuclear power plant. There are three debatable issues between Croatia and Slovenia - the Istra border affair, which Slovenia wants to change at the expense of Croatia, the Ljubljana Bank debt to Croatian depositors, which has still not been paid, and the matter of the rightful ownership of the Krsko nuclear plant.
