NOVA GRADISKA, Feb 2 (Hina) - UNPROFOR expected Croatia and local
Serb authorities to immediately begin with the disposal of mines on
the eastern and western boundaries of UN Sector West, UN Sector
West spokeswoman Susan Manuel today told a press conference in Nova
Gradiska.
The mine disposal would last up to ten days after which
repairs on the Zagreb-Okucani-Mirkovci-Tovarnik-Belgrade railway
would begin and were to be completed by the end of this month,
Manuel said.
Manuel said Croatian and Serb experts for railway repairs
would meet again on February 7.
The southern track of the railway line suffered major damage
but at one point the rails of both southern and northern tracks
were removed at a length of 50 metres. The tracks were damaged by
artillery shells at a dozen spots and a concrete bridge near
Paklenica was also substantially damaged. The railway station in
Okucani was in good repair as opposed to those in Rajic and
Dragalic, Manuel said.
