ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The northern branch of the Adriatic oil
pipeline passing through UN Sector North was opened today
pursuant to the 2 December 1994 Economic Agreement between the
Croatian government and local Serb authorities, the President's
Office said in a statement.
The pipeline will be put in operation tomorrow when the oil
will start flowing from Omisalj to Sisak and on to Central
European countries - Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic and
Slovakia.
The opening of the oil pipeline, following the earlier
opening of the Zagreb-Lipovac highway and in the context of
efforts aimed at opening the Zagreb-Belgrade and Zagreb-Knin-
Split railway lines and restoring water and electric power
systems, confirms that the process of normalizing relations and
peaceful reintegration of the UN protected areas is in full
swing, the statement concluded.
