SARAJEVO, Jan 31 (Hina) - The Bosnian Moslem-led government army
and Moslem separatists supported by rebel Croatian Serbs today
continued clashes in the Velika Kladusa area of northwestern
Bosnia.
UN military observers south and southeast of Velika Kladusa
had counted 635 detonations in the past 24 hours.
UN peacekeepers recorded more than 1,000 explosions two days
ago, but UNPROFOR spokesman in Sarajevo Gary Coward said the
fighting was subsiding.
Sarajevo radio and TV quoted the Bosnian army Fifth Corps as
saying that speratist Moslem and rebel Croatian Serb forces
yesterday severely attacked Fifth Corps positions in the area.
UN could not confirm Bosnian government allegations that Serb
troops from Serbia proper were also involved in the attacks. UN
spokesman Alexander Ivanko said UN military observers reported they
had spotted persons in "odd uniforms" around Velika Kladusa.
In the eastern town of Srebrenica, the UN recorded exchanges
of small arms fire, including 36 powerful explosions, Coward said.
Dutch UN peacekeepers in Srebrenica were still blocked at
their positions, and the Bosnian government said it was going to
solve the problem today.
