ZAGREB, Jan 13 (Hina) - The Serb National Party (SNS) in Croatia
today described a decision to end the UNPROFOR mandate as a
"unilalteral" move which would encourage a war option and the
departure from a peaceful resolution of the Serb issue in Croatia.
The SNS hoped the Security Council would decide through its
powers to keep UNPROFOR in the region, SNS leader Milan Djukic told
a Zagreb press conference.
The SNS today issued a "proclamation to the Serb people in
Croatia and to all citizens of Croatia" calling on the Croatian
government and Serb representatives from the UN-protected areas to
"immediately sign an agreement on the peaceful settlement of the
political crisis."
The SNS also called on Croatian authorities to recognize the
Serb people as a political subject and to join efforts to find a
compromise solution.
The SNS called on the Serb people in Croatia to be reasonable
and to respect the right of the Croatian people to have their
state.
