ZAGREB, Jan 10 (Hina) - Bosnian Army soldiers withdrew from a
demilitarized zone at Mount Igman at the weekend, UN Protection
Force spokesman in Zagreb, Paul Risley, said today.
Risley said UNPROFOR had promised the Bosnian Government to
guarantee the security of a road across Mount Igman, which was
vital in dispatching supplies to Sarajevo.
The four-month cessation of hostilities agreement in Bosnia
provided for the immediate deployment of international civilian
observers in Serb-controlled Bosnian towns, especially in Banja
Luka and Bijeljina.
UNPROFOR was concerned by reports on continued ethnic
cleansing and other flagrant violations of human rights in the two
towns, Risley added.
The implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement
was "relatively successful", and only the "usual" level of shelling
and small arms fire was registered in western Bosnia this morning,
he said.
He announced that the joint commission for the implementation
of the agreement would meet at Sarajevo Airport Wednesday at noon.
Moslem and Serb high military officials were expected to attend the
meeting, he said.
