GANIC MEETS AKASHI IN ZAGREB

ZAGREB, Jan 9 (Hina) - Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia- Herzegovina and Bosnian vice president Ejup Ganic today met UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi at the Zagreb UNPROFOR headquarters. They discussed the implementation of the four month cessation of hostilities agreement in Bosnia, an UNPROFOR spokesman said. They also paid particular attention to reopening the 'blue routes' to Sarajevo and respect for the demilitarised zones around the city. Continued military activities in the Bihac pocket also figured in the talks. Ganic remarked that Bosnian Serbs were failing to observe the agreement, UNPROFOR spokesman Thant Myint-U said. Akashi promised that UNPROFOR would do everything possible to ensure the agreement's provisions were carried out, Myint-U said. He announced that a UN high official would visit Knin Wednesday to ask Croatian Serbs to withdraw their forces from northwest Bosnia. Clearance would also be sought for the free passage of UN convoys carrying supplies to the UN Bangladeshi battalion in Bihac.
