SARAJEVO, Jan 2 (Hina) - The 'blue routes' for Sarajevo could open
as early as today, if not, then definitely by the end of week,
UNPROFOR Sarajevo spokesman, Aleksandar Ivanko, said today.
Free passage is mentioned in the four month agreement on
ending hostilities from December 31, 1994, which means the renewal
of the 'blue routes' - a concept outlined in an agreement on March
17, 1994.
The most important 'blue route' for Sarajevo ran through Mount
Igman and the Sarajevo airport, avoiding all Serb checkpoints.
Sarajevo airport has been closed for two days because of an
accident involving a Ukraine airplane. UNPROFOR said an airplane
was damaged yesterday and has since been removed. Air traffic was
expected to return to normal today or tomorrow.
