ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - Croatian experts from the Zagreb-based
Forensics Institute began to take over from the representatives of
the International Crimes Tribunal the task of identifying mortal
remains of victims exhumed from the mass grave on Ovcara, near
Vukovar, and they should completely take over the job by New
Year's, head of the Croatian forensics team, Davor Strinovic, said
on Thursday. #L#
Strinovic explained that International Tribunal experts had
established the cause of death of all 200 exhumed victims and
identified with some certainty about 60 victims, since the time
they had begun the operation on 7 October.
Croatian experts would check and verify the sixty
identifications and identify the rest of the mortal remains, he
said, recalling that the take over of the task had been envisaged
to take place for the beginning of December, but due to complexity,
it was delayed a month.
Strinovic could not say precisely when the identification of
all victims would be completed.
