ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - In a very short period Croatia managed to
educate a generation of diplomats according to European standards,
Foreign Minister Mate Granic said in Zagreb on Monday presenting a
book called "A Diplomatic Manual".
The book was written by British author Ralph George Feltham,
and Granic wrote a foreword to the Croatian edition.
Granic said that diplomatic education in Croatia began in 1992
with short courses and that it had developed to the level of a
diplomatic academy.
He added that the Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Academy was
being attended by a second generation of one-year course
participants.
The fact that our Croatian friends have chosen to follow a
British book, and they try to follow courses set by British
diplomacy, is a polite way of flattering to us, British Ambassador
to Croatia Gavin Hewitt said.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by foreign
diplomats accredited to Croatia with Apostolic Nuncio Giulio
Einaudi at the head.
