NO INCIDENT BETWEEN CRO, SERB POLICEMEN IN CRO DANUBIAN AREA - DJU

Autor:
DJU $ KIC BELGRADE, Oct 6 (Hina) - "No incident occurred" among Croatian and Serb policemen in the past three months they work together in the Croatian Danubian area, head of the transitional police forces in the Croatian Danubian area Petar Djukic told Belgrade's state agency on Sunday. "Not one Croatian policeman has so far been attacked, hurt or insulted by the local Serb population", Djukic said, and added that the UN transitional police consisted of 1,450 people, 1,300 of whom were Serbs, while the rest were Croats. "They work together at all police stations and there are two commanders everywhere - one Serb and one Croat", Djukic said and added that there were no Croatian policemen along the borderline with Yugoslavia. Speaking about the freedom of movement of citizens from Yugoslavia and the Bosnian Serb entity in the area, Djukic said they knew the area "must be reintegrated into Croatia's constitutional system, but this still hasn't been done and as long as it remains so, (these) citizens will move there freely." Djukic also said that one third of Serb policemen were on the Croatian list of those to whom the amnesty did not refer to, which "caused unrest and uncertainty" among people. Of utmost necessity for an effective work, Djukic pointed out lack of vehicles and especially, irregular payments to Serb policemen. (hina) ha 061848 MET oct 96
