ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - A peaceful rally of Zagreb residents who
gathered in the central square at 08:00 p.m. Thursday to support
Radio 101, ended shortly after 09:00 p.m. No incident was recorded
at the rally.
According to unofficial estimates, up to 100,000 people
gathered at the square and nearby streets. Many of them were
carrying lighted candles and banners.
The rally in Ban Josip Jelacic Square was organized by the
Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the Zagreb
Students' Federation after the Telecommunication Council had failed
to grant the Zagreb frequency licence to this independent local
radio station.
