TRAVNIK, Nov 6 (Hina) - The return of refugees to central Bosnia,
in line with the Dayton peace accord, was being carried out, but at
a slow pace, a local Bosnian Croat official said on Wednesday.
The Dayton peace accord's pilot programme for the return
includes central Bosnian towns of Travnik, Jajce and Bugojno, and
southern town of Stolac.
During the last year 100 Croat families returned to Travnik,
under control of the Bosnian Army, whereas 200 Bosniac (Moslem)
families came back to Jajce under control of Bosnian Croat force
(HVO), in line with the pilot programme.
However, Bosnian Army-controlled Bugojno failed to fulfill
commitments to letting 200 Croat families return to their hometown.
The Central Bosnian Canton minister of social welfare, Vikica
Mijic, said Wednesday that she had no data on the number of Moslem
refugees who had fled central Bosnia. She said the total of about
90,000 persons from the canton had been registered as refugees and
dislocated persons, and 66,000 of them were Croats.
