STRASBOURG, 5 Nov (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Minister Mate
Granic on Tuesday arrived in Strasbourg. On Wednesday, Granic will
deliver an instrument on Croatia's admission to the Council of
Europe, signed by Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman, to the
Council of Europe Secretary General Daniel Tarschys. #L#
Croatia will become the 40th member-state of the Council of
Europe tomorrow.
During the admission ceremony, Granic will sign the compulsory
European Human Rights Convention, with additional protocols, as
well as a framework Convention on minority rights, which has been
signed by a smaller number of states. The signing of this
convention is not a precondition for the accession to the Council
of Europe.
Granic is also to attend a session of the Council of Europe
Committee of Ministers on Thursday.
