ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - Cardinal Franjo Kuharic, the Roman Catholic
Archbishop of Zagreb, on Tuesday received a delegation of the holy
synod of the Serb Orthodox Church. The delegation led by the
Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana, Jovan Pavlovic, included the
Episcopalian of Sumadija, Sava Vukovic and the parson in Zagreb
Milenko Popovic.
After the meeting Cardinal Kuharic told journalists that they
had talked about the "way out of the past"
"The Churches must continue to heal the wounds in souls and
consciences, on the grounds of true analyses and respect for the
facts, always aiming at reconciliation and forgiveness," Cardinal
Kuharic said. He added that the return of Orthodox priests and
Episcopalians to Croatia and the presence of Roman Catholic priests
among the faithful in Sirmium should be reciprocally made possible.
Asked about impressions from the Tuesday's talks Cardinal
Kuharic said the impression was "very positive".
"After all what we have experienced, we must be now sincere to
each other," he said.
Metropolitan Jovan described the meeting with Kuharic as
useful. He explained that the talks would be useful for both
Churches, helping get the relations between churches' back to
normal soon.
