BRIJUNI, Nov 2 (Hina) - A Croatian-German joint society "Plomin 2"
was established on Saturday by Croatia's National Power (HEP) and
Germany's Essen-based company RWE-Energie that signed, in Brijuni,
an agreement on bringing to en end the construction of the "Plomin
2" coal-fired thermal power plant in Istria.
A Croatian Minister Branko Mocibob described the agreement as
very important for the economic incentive to the development of
Labinstina, an underdeveloped area of Istria.
The German Ambassador to Croatia Volker Haak said the
establishment of the joint society "Plomin 2" was the proof of
confidence between the two countries and good economic and friendly
relations between the German and Croatian nations.
He added that Croatia and Germany should intensify economic
cooperation in the power industry.
The Croatian Power (HEP) president Damir Begovic, said the
Brijuni agreement was the result of long cooperation between the
HEP and Germany's RWE-Energy company.
Besides Minister Mocibob, German Ambassador Haak and the HEP
president Begovic, present at the ceremony of the signing were
Croatian Ambassador to Germany Zoran Jasic, RWE board member Rolf
Bierhoff, Croatian Chamber of Commerce head Nadan Vidosevic, and
Croatian and German businessmen.
