G $ ERMAN COMPANY ZAGREB, 25 Oct (Hina) - The Croatian Electric Power Industry (HEP) and the German Electric Power Industry RWEE from Essen will sign an agreement on the construction of the thermal power plant Plomin 2 in Istria (northern Adriatic) at the end of the next week, the HEP Administration head Damir Begovic told a press conference in Zagreb on Friday. #L# The thermal power plant Plomin 2 would be a new electric power company in whose basic capital the HEP would invest assets it owned in the form of the yet uncompleted plant, while the RWEE would secure financial means for the completion of the construction. The HEP would be the owner of all immovables, while Plomin 2 d.o.o. would own movables. After a period of 15 years, the HEP would become the full owner of the company. 'This model is the beginning of the demonopolisation of the HEP in the production process, and it also offers privatisation possibilities', Begovic said. He added that the HEP offered some 20 projects to the local community so that it could profit from the construction of the thermal power plant. The projects included the construction of a dock, water supply system, sports centre etc. Plomin 2 d.o.o. would also pay compensation for the use of premises, Begovic added. Asked about a possible referendum, in which Istria residents would say whether they wanted the construction of a coal-fired thermal power plant, which had been announced by Istria County Assembly, director of the HEP Production Board, Ante Curkovic, said the HEP had all documents and permits to complete the construction of the thermal power plant. Plomin 2 thermal power plant would be completed by the end of 1988, which is the deadline set by the Croatian government. (hina) rm jn 251539 MET oct 96
