During the talks, Mock said that Austria had helped Croatia
because the Croatian people had committed themselves to freedom and
democracy, and against the one-party communist system, but also
because of concrete interests regarding stability in the region.
The day when Croatia would become a full member of the
European Union was not far, Mock said, adding that it was necessary
to follow the idea of a common and united Europe where there would
be no national wars.
Thanking Mock for everything he had done for Croatia and
Osijek, Kramaric said that efforts needed to be made in the next
period so that Croatia could assume its place in the central
European political, cultural and economic context.
Mock is to visit Vukovar later in the day.
