DJAKOVO, Oct 2 (Hina) - The Croatian Bishops Conference began a
three-day autumn session in the eastern town of Djakovo on
Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of Zagreb,
Cardinal Franjo Kuharic.
Attending were the Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia, Giulio
Einaudi, a representative of the Bosnian Bishops Conference, Mostar
Bishop Ratko Peric, Subotica Bishop Janos Penzes and Kotor Bishop
Ilija Janjic.
Bishops will propose topics for an extraordinary session of
the Synod for Europe, discuss the establishment of new dioceses,
catechism classes in schools and the observance of Sunday as a
holiday, set priorities for reconstruction of war-damaged church
buildings, and consider a proposal for establishing a church bank.
