IFOR mandate. #L#
"The three ministers stress that it is desirable that IFOR
should continue its duties after 1996, in order to enable peace to
take root in Bosnia-Herzegovina," said a joint statement released
after the tripartite meeting in New York.
Supporting a recent agreement on the normalisation of
relations between Zagreb and Belgrade, the statement expressed hope
for a "timely normalisation of relations between the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzevovina," noting Yugoslavia's
obligation under the Dayton Agreement to do it unconditionally.
The three ministers expressed satisfaction with the progress
achieved in the peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian
area, noting that the holding of elections in the region was the
"next crucial step which should be realised as soon as possible."
The three ministers agreed to meet again in Croatia in spring
and to suggest to their presidents to hold a summit in Turkey as
soon as possible.
The statement expressed satisfaction that the Bosnia election
was held in a peaceful atmosphere and was supported by the people
of Bosnia.
"We also express our confidence that the outcome of the
election will ensure that Bosnia-Herzegovina survives as a
democratic, multicultural and multiethnic state within its
internationally recognised borders," the statement concluded.
