NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic
met in New York on Monday with EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner
Hans van den Broek and Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akhbar
Velayati.
Van den Broek stressed Croatia's positive role in the peace
process in Bosnia-Herzegovina and supported the agreement on the
normalization of relations between Zagreb and Belgrade, Granic
told reporters after the talks.
Speaking of Croatia's bid to enter the Council of Europe,
Granic said that despite some opposition there was a high degree
of consensus among European countries on admitting Croatia to
this organization.
Granic added that this had been confirmed by the German and
Irish foreign ministers, Klaus Kinkel and Dick Spring, during a
lunch given by the UN secretary general for foreign ministers
attending the session of the UN General Assembly.
On Monday night, Granic formally opened the new offices of
the Croatian mission to the United Nations.
