RIJEKA, Sept 18 (Hina) - Members of a UN High Commission for drugs control which is on a several-day visit to Croatia, on Wednesday held talks with the Primorje County prefect Josip Roje. Present at the talks were also heads of the
Primorje police and Rijeka Customs administration.

control which is on a several-day visit to Croatia, on Wednesday

UN Commission head Jens Hannibal stressed that the goal of
their visit to Croatia was to evaluate the results achieved so far
in the prevention and control of drugs, to suggest new programmes
and provide assistance in their realization.
Roje informed the guests that great attention was given to the
fight against addiction and to the treatment of addicts, and
stressed the role of the County Counsel for the prevention and
control of addiction which consisted of experts of various
professions, and of the Centre for prevention and treatment of drug
addicts from Rijeka.
The meeting stressed that the situation regarding the use of
drugs in Rijeka was better than in most other Croatian counties.
Hannibal said that Rijeka and the Primorje County would be one
of the centres of the UN programme of drug control in Croatia.
The UN High Commission for the control of drugs went on to
visit the Rijeka town leadership, Primorje police headquarters and
the Rijeka customs administration.
