In 1993, Gray closed the sluice gate on Peruca water power
plant and prevented an environmental disaster and plight of great
number of people living in the area from Peruca to the coastal town
of Omis.
The water power plant of Peruca had been mined and severely
damaged on 28 January 1993 by the Serbian aggressor, but the
aggressor's plan of a large-scale catastrophe failed.
'Gray's enterprise deserves the epithet of a human, heroic
feat', Puljic said.
Gray said it had been his duty to save human lives and he was
happy to have fulfilled his duty.
Government Commissioner Puljic presented officer Gray with an
ornamented piece of altar dating back to the 11th century and a
monograph of the town of Knin.
