The meetings stressed the political importance of US Trade
Secretary Mickey Kantor's visit to Croatia and the possibility of a
bilateral meeting at the highest level. Kantor is expected to
arrive in Croatia on Thursday.
Also discussed were the global-regional approaches and
Croatia's integration in the western security mechanisms.
Zunzul said Croatia opposed the regional approach and stressed
the importance of Croatia's joining NATO's Partnership for Peace.
The US representatives reiterated their support to Croatia's
accession to western institutions, which was, however, conditional
on the implementation of the Dayton Agreement and on Croatia
resolving certain internal issues, such as the functioning of the
media.
Both sides voiced satisfaction with the successful
implementation of the Dayton process, the success of the Mostar
elections and the beginning of the 'Train and Equip' program for
Bosnian Federation Armed Forces.
