SARAJEVO, July 9 (Hina) - A coalition of five Bosnian political
parties demanded on Tuesday that general elections scheduled for
mid-September be delayed in some municipalities because of a lack
of minimum security conditions.
The United List for Bosnia-Herzegovina said in a statement
it had filed a request to international mediator Christian
Schwarz-Schilling to temporarily delay elections in Croatian
Defence Council (HVO)-controlled areas, except Livno, and in
Sanski Most, Kljuc and Bosanski Petrovac.
The coalition, including the Social Democratic Party, the
Bosnian Moslem Organization, the Croatian Peasant Party, the
Union of Bosnian Social Democrats and the Republican Party,
demanded that the international community monitor the freedom of
political activity in those areas.
"We believe that only after minimum conditions for fair
elections have been met can they be organized in the above-
mentioned municipalities," the statement said.
