ZAGREB, June 22 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Saturday received representatives of the Government Office for
Restoration of Croatian Authority in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and
Western Srijem, led by Ivica Vrkic, the President's office said in
a statement.
Following is the full text of the statement:
"Office representatives acquainted President Tudjman with
the functioning of the Office and the further steps to be taken now
that the demilitarisation of the Croatian Danubian area had been
completed.
The top priority was to enable Croatian companies to resume
their activities in the Croatian Danubian area, which would spur on
the return of refugees and reconstruction, President Tudjman said,
stressing the need for the reintegration process to be conducted by
peaceful means in order to avoid bloodshed, which was in the best
interests of Croatia and the international community.
This process should be completed as soon as possible, to
enable refugees to return to all towns and villages, President
Tudjman said.
Also attending were the Deputy Prime Minister and chairman
of the Coordination for Peaceful Reintegration of Eastern Slavonia,
Baranja and Western Srijem, Ivica Kostovic, the President's Deputy
Chief of Staff, Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, the head of Slavonia-Baranja
County, Branimir Glavas, and the head of Vukovar-Srijem County,
Vlado Osust.
