SARAJEVO, June 17 (Hina) - Saturday's attack at the president of
the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina Haris Silajdzic in Cazin, was a
direct attempt of his murder, high representative of the Party for
Bosnia Zaim Backovic told Monday's news conference in Sarajevo.
Bosnian army Brigadier and president of the United Fighters'
Organization of Bosnia, Backovic, was accompanying Silajdzic during
his visit to western Bosnia.
The Party for Bosnia believes that behind the organized
incidents in Cazin was the Moslem Youth Association, which is part
of the Social Democratic Action party (SDA).
Backovic said that the Party had all the information about the
persons responsible for the incident and that it would soon publish
the information.
He again accused the local authorities in Cazin of doing
nothing to prevent Saturday's incidents which were being watched by
the local police without interest.
Another member of the Party, Fadil Cerimagic, said that
Silajdzic's wounds could have been lethal, which had been confirmed
by doctors at the hospital in Karlovac.
Cerimagic expressed gratitude to the hospital staff and the
Croatian border police for offering speedy assistance.
Silajdzic, according to members of his party, is not in
Sarajevo, but is in "a safe place" and does not want to give any
statements.
The attack at Silajdzic was on Monday condemned by IFOR
spokesman in Sarajevo, Simon Haselock.
He also accused the police of doing nothing to prevent the
incidents.
