SARAJEVO, May 23 (Hina) - President of the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Kresimir Zubak, on Thursday confirmed that an
agreement had been reached on the delay of elections in Mostar and
on conditions under which Mostar citizens who fled the city during
the war could vote. #L#
"The elections in Mostar will definitely take place by the end
of June and will be scheduled according to rules determined in the
Dayton Agreement and decisions by the European Administration",
Zubak told reporters in Sarajevo.
Zubak also said that a definite agreement on the Mostar
elections between Croat and Moslem representatives could be signed
this Saturday, after which European Administrator Ricardo Perez
Casado would officially state the new date of the elections.
According to Zubak, the agreement stipulated that all Mostar
citizens now living abroad who wanted to vote be enabled to come to
Mostar on election day and return safely to countries in which they
had the status of refugees. For those who did not wish to or could
not come, voting would be organized at special offices abroad which
should be established by the European Union. The voting in these
offices would be supervised by representatives of the European
Union and Croats and Moslems, which would ensure full regularity of
the elections.
The Moslems' request that voting be organized at Bosnian
embassies or consulates was rejected because, according to Zubak,
such procedure was not provided for local elections.
